Emissaries in the Former Soviet Union

For twenty-five years Shvut Ami has addressed the needs of Communities in the former Soviet Union providing  qualified Russian-speaking Jewish educators.  Back in the days of communism and religious suppression,  Shvut Ami sent the first Russian-born teachers.  Today branches in Petersburg, Riga and Kiev and affiliated programs in a dozen other cities in the former Soviet Union, staffed by our trainees, serve as important centers for Jewish study and Jewish discovery.

Our talented alumni have impacted Jewish life across the former Soviet Union, launching new educational initiatives while providing key staff to established  programs. Thousands of Russian Jews are grateful to Shvut Ami for offering them the first Jewish experiences of their life.
